Dana Point Fish Report
May brought on fantastic yellowtail fishing. We have been targeting these fish in a variety of areas and have been catching fish ranging from 8 to 40 pounds. The fish have been eating the surface iron, live sardine, squid, mackerel, and anchovy. When using anchovy, it’s been key to use a size 2 hook and 15 pound fluorocarbon leader. We’ve also been getting a good volume of fish slow trolling the bigger sardines and Rapalas. The small to medium sized Rapalas have been working the best. Once we have located a nice school of fish we’ve been catching them primarily off the fly line with live bait. A few of the tankers have hit the dropper loop off the bottom.

We specialize in private fishing charters for 1 to 6 passengers. We are a small group of local fishermen who grew up fishing out of Dana Point Harbor. We will put you on fish year round!
